Fifth-graders from Denise Allan’s Wantagh Elementary School class and Maria Brown’s Mandalay Elementary School class learned about historical figures during their Writers Workshop unit.
Students researched historical figures and wrote biographical book reports, according to a district news release. The students then dressed up as the characters they chose and delivered speeches and presentations, during their “White House Tea.”
The students’ parents were invited to attend the tea and meet the students, who played the part of their historical individuals. Parents listened to facts about their leaders. A few researched individuals included Princess Diana, John F. Kennedy, Milton Hershey and Queen Victoria.
