Nassau County police began the search for a gunman in West Hempstead on Monday. Police received a tip that a man from an earlier investigation related to an incident at Terrace Avenue in Hempstead — when two men were shot and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries — might be the same person at the Capri Motor Inn in West Hempstead.
When police entered the hotel room, they did not find the suspect they were looking for. As caution, they then closed the roads and the area for public safety. Police did not know if the man was armed at the time. Special Ops., state troopers, and the Nassau County police were all at the Cherry Valley Shopping Center, down the road from the hotel.
